Timber Festival

Feanedock, The National Forest

Friday 5th - Sunday 7th July

Following an incredibly successful first year which saw 4,000 people come together to be inspired by music, forests, arts and ideas, the organisers of Timber Festival have announced it will return to Feanedock woods in the heart of the National Forest on the 5th, 6th, 7th July 2019.

Timber is a joint venture between the National Forest Company and Wild Rumpus, who have come together to create an international festival exploring the transformative impact of forests.

Last year Timber saw an incredible line-up of speakers, writers, artists and poets inspire festival-goers, from Stuart Maconie, Robert Macfarlane and Blue Planet sound artist Chris Watson, to music from amongst others This Is The Kit, Jane Weaver and Hope & Social; art installations including Luke Jerram’s spectacular Museum Of The Moon and Jony Easterby’s Tree & Wood; virtual reality experience In The Eyes of The Animal and a whole host of woodland workshops and talks, and relaxation including a woodland spa.

Duties volunteers are required to help with:

  • Wristband Exchange/Gates - Greeting audience members to the festival and issuing their wristbands.
  • Car parks/Campsites - Directing vehicles as they arrive to the site to their parking area, taking payments for parking. Patrolling the campsites, ensuring fire access lanes are kept clear.

Volunteer Team Descriptions

  • Car parks/Live-in vehicles team

This team covers greeting vehicles as they arrive to the site, taking parking payments from those who have not prepaid and directing vehicles to the correct parking area or the live-in vehicle field. You may also be asked to help with directing vehicles into bays or siting live-in vehicles. Later in the day when people are leaving site this team will assist with directing vehicles towards the exit.

  • Wristband exchange team

Greeting audience members as they leave the car park and exchanging their ticket for a festival wristband. This role also involves providing basic site information to the audience and directing them to the correct area of the site, either campsite or arena entrances.

  • Litter picking team

Timber Festival has a waste management team who will take responsibility for the majority of waste removal on site. However volunteers are needed to help with litter picking patrols and monitoring waste bins (replacing full bin bags for fresh ones) particularly around food vendor areas at peak eating times. This role will involve a lot of walking during shift.
