Set in the unique grounds of Cheltenham Racecourse, within walking distance of the regency town of Cheltenham. Wychwood Festival has been bringing joy to families and music lovers since 2005. This unique festival boasts a variety of experiences, from top notch music, comedy and workshops to thrilling circus, literature and family activities. For more information on this festival, please see the festival website.
We are on the lookout for friendly and enthusistic people to help with stewarding at Wychwood Festival. This will involve working approx. 3x6hr shifts over the festival. Most help will be required on Friday to assist with audience arrivals. Full details of what's involved and other shift options can be found on the application form.
In return for volunteering you will receive access to the festival, including free camping/live-in vehicle pass and/or parking. And also gain early access, so you can camp from Thursday, a day before the customers arrive.
Team Descriptions - Please note some options have already filled up. Please see below for current availability.
Below are the volunteer team descriptions. They will give you an idea of what's involved in volunteering at Wychwood Festival.
N.B. Please note these team descriptions may be subject to slight changes but should give you an accurate indication of what will be required on each team.
Arena/Venues Team (Friday to Sunday) FULL:
This team covers the arena venues and stewarding positions in and around the festival arena. You will be required to complete 3 shifts (up to 6hrs per shift, totalling 18hrs). Everyone on this team will need to complete one morning, one afternoon and one evening shift. The earliest start time will be 9am and latest you may be required is 1am.
Campsites & Arrivals Team (Thursday to Monday) Last few places remaining:
This team covers the festival campsites and some positions leading into the campsites and parking areas. You will be required to complete 3 shifts (up to 5.25hrs per shift, totalling 15.5hrs). The earliest start time will be 8am and latest you may be required is 10:30pm. There is an option on this team to work a longer shift on Friday when the majority of the audience will be arriving, this gives you more free time over the rest of the weekend.
Volunteer HQ Team (Thursday to Sunday) FULL:
This team looks after everything that goes on in the Volunteer HQ marquee. Tasks include; registering volunteer arrivals, issuing equipment, selling soup kitchen wristbands, keeping the refreshments area stocked up and clean and tidy. You will be required to complete 3 shifts (up to 5.25hrs per shift, totalling 15.5hrs). The earliest start time will be 7am and latest you may be required is 10:30pm.
Information & Merch Team (Friday to Sunday) FULL:
This team works in the information tent or merch stall in the arena. Providing customer information and dealing with lost property and missing/found children. You will be required to complete 3 shifts (up to 5.25hrs per shift, totalling 15.5hrs). The earliest start time will be 9am and latest you may be required is 11:30pm.
Night Team (1 night Thursday to Monday) Only Saturday night shift remaining:
Working on this team involves working one overnight shift 10pm-7am in the Volunteer HQ marquee (same role as Volunteer HQ team, see above) and also one 5.25hr daytime shift (likely to be helping with campsite arrivals on Friday). This totals 14.25hrs.
Setup/Break team (Monday to Thursday pre-festival and Monday post-festival) FULL:
We require a small team to assist with the setup and break of the campsite and other areas. This role involves a fair amount of walking and setting up barriers, boundary markers, signage etc. A reasonable level of fitness is a bonus, along with initiative to work on tasks unsupervised, although none of the tasks are too complicated or strenuous. Some stewarding will be required as during build we need to ensure that any early arrivals go into the right areas, which may not have been marked out already. Shifts are all daytime and will be approximately 9am-4pm, however this depends on the amount of work completed so could be shorter days if all goes to plan. If you are not able to stay until Monday for the break then we would ask that you help with customer arrivals to the campsite on Friday instead.
